 sickness of health

 9th February 2018

Once again I am meandering within the realm of the seriously unwell. Despite all my best chemical endeavours my fragile self has succumbed to the most beastly of beasts. Ravaging my soul heartlessly, careening around my membranes in a most unwanted fashion. God help me...

Ransom the World - 16th May 2017

 Ransom the World

 16th May 2017

So, the Cyber Apocalypse didn't look exactly as I had imagined, but it is pretty neat. The WannaCry exploit raged over the weekend, thwarted only by a couple  of domain registrations. Many reports suggest the exploit is badly written, but I beg to differ. In fact I am pretty sure we are not being told everything. Reports state that at least some of the unfortunate victims who actually paid have had files decrypted. This suggests there is a decrypt method although none of the researchers have commented on how this is working. The fact that the kill switch domains are hard coded suggests to me a coder that sold his work cheaply, the criminals who bought it didn't want to pay for sophistication, they were in it for a quick buck. They did however get a pretty powerful exploit, and I bet they never dreamed it would be so successful. Whilst their bitcoin accounts accumulate value the owners are probably crapping themselves whilst they figure out how to wash the bitcoins into real coins without getting caught. Watch this space, space cowboys.

Feeling icky - 18th September 2015

 Feeling icky

 18th September 2015

Being ill is pretty icky. Naturally as a man, my seasonal cold is pretty serious, debilitating, painful and most unpleasant - something women are unable to understand. Man flu sucks. Ok so it's just a silly cold, but I don't care, I am ill, I need asprin, disprin and everythin...

the future of djing - 14th August 2015

 the future of djing

 14th August 2015

So it seems that Stems are the future of DJ'ing, at least according to Native Instruments. Now I gotta say I am a huge fan of Traktor, takes a while to get confident with the software but it does let you really do cool stuff - when you have the right controllers. And there is the catch, the 'flagship' Traktor controller is the S8 which will set you back a cool 1,000 yoyos. No part time superstar DJ (like me) has that kinda dough to throw away. I mean the Z2 was pretty slick but now looks outdated and still will cost you over 500 buckaroos. You can use Stems with the F1 which I suppose is something...

hot, hot and hotter - 12th August 2015

 hot, hot and hotter

 12th August 2015

Summertime, and the weather is good... In fact, you could say it's better than good - it's awesome in it's hotness - man that's some cool hot stuff. It's jumping in the river hot, it's one tonne of ice in my oh jay hot, it's hotter than a snakes butt. But I guess that is what summer should be, not like those dismal island Summers of my youth - man they are depressing, just waiting, waiting, waiting for a summer that never comes. Well it came this year, oh yes brother - it did.

 this is a test

 11th August 2015

Well I suppose tests are boring, but most things start with a test, test - test. See? Without tests there might be no starts, and without starts there would definitely be no ends. No starts, no ends, nothing in the middle - pretty boring huh? smiley
